What to Expect After Hemorrhoidectomy

As discussed pre-op pain can be severe in the first few days post-op
Take pain medications as prescribed
Severe pain may persist for a few days and up to 7 days

Some bleeding in the first few days is normal
This will be minor low volume bleeds, usually at time of bowel movements
Some spotting may persist for a couple of weeks
Severe high volume bleeding is not normal and needs urgent attention
